My son was a picky eater and I almost gave up.
Everyone out there told me what my kids should be eating but no one seemed to help show how to get my kids to actually eat it…
(at least without using force, bribery, sneaking, or lying).
I never thought it was possible to get my son to go from eating a handful of foods to struggle free meals where he voluntarily asks to try new foods!
Not too long ago, I felt like a failure as a mom. My then 2 year old son rarely ate the meals I fixed and never seemed to try anything new (let alone healthy). I was exhausted, frustrated, overwhelmed, and defeated. Mealtimes resulted in me begging, pleading, or forcing my son to take a bite with no success.
It seemed like unless I made him take a bite or bribe him with dessert, he was never going to eat healthy food!
And then something happened….
I thought, if i’m a dietitian with all this education and I feel this way, there has got to be other parents who feel totally lost!
So, I used my profession to find a solution and spent hours and hours researching and learning how to feed babies, toddler, kids and picky eaters…
I started implementing what I had learned and after only a few weeks I STARTED TO SEE PROGRESS WITH MY SON!
First, he would interact with the new food. Then, he would allow it to be on his plate. Little by little he started eating more and more foods!
Mealtime became pleasant and relaxed.
I now only make one meal that my whole family eats.
My trust that my son eats what he needs and he now eats foods from all the food groups.
He now asks some of the new foods around him ON. HIS. OWN.
I no longer bribe or force him to eat anything. He willfully eats vegetables and says his body likes them!
I know if I can get these results with my picky eater, you can too!
